The Grand Exhibition "Rewriting Liu Haisu" was ceremoniously inaugurated at 10:00 on the morning of August 18, 2016. After the opening ceremony, the grand exhibition was open to the public. As the curator of the museum and the organizer of this exhibition, Zhu Gang said: "This grand exhibition reflects his experience of learning art, going through vicissitudes of life as well as his pursuit of ideal. It's the first exhibition which illustrates the splendid, passionate and heroic art life of Liu Haisu." The exhibition is named "Rewriting" which means the re-examining, re-reading, and re-writing of the art images. It is also a further interpretation of the academic value of Liu Haisu's art works.
The deputy curator of Central Research Institute of Culture and History, the vice president of China Federation of Literary and Art, and the vice president of China Artists Association addressed the opening ceremony.

They emphasized that Liu Haisu had a great influence on Chinese art history, so does the Liu Haisu Arts Museum. It is hoped that the new museum could carry forward the spirit of the old museum, provide better service, and make greater contribution to Shanghai and even the nation's cultural and artistic undertakings.

The name of the exhibition "Rewriting of Liu Haisu" is very pertinent to the exhibition purposes. The success of this exhibition and the new museum illustrate that it is very much necessary for leaders from various circles in Shanghai to give proper evaluation to and lay emphasis on Liu Haisu as well as review his life stories as an old revolutionary and his contribution to Chinese art history and new culture.
•An Yuanyuan, curator of The National Art Museum of China, extended her congratulations to the opening of the new Liu Haisu Art Museumon behalf of The National Art Museum of China. She thought, through academic research, this exhibition "Rewriting of Liu Haisu" analyzed Liu Haisu in the context of history of art and social development, which made it more clear for the audience to understand Liu Hiasu's contributions.
•Dong Xiaoming, vice president of Chinese Painting Institute, honorary chairman of Shenzhen Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and president of Shenzhen Painting Institute, has stories with Liu Haisu Arts Museum. He started his career when the old museum was about to be built. He thought the exhibition was of great significance. "Rewriting" is another important step we took to further our research and inherit the spirit of Liu Haisu and Chinese art.
Pan Yaochang, professor at the college of Fine Arts of Shanghai University, expressed that upgrading and transformation have been underway since the establishment of Liu Haisu Arts Museum. As a representative of Shanghai artists, Liu Haisu is worthwhile for Shanghai to do further researches on.
The grand exhibition is officially open, and 500 people were attracted here in less than 3 hours since the opening.
